SLEEPY HEADS

Director:Yoshifumi Hosoya
Cast: Adam Vignola, Matthew Black, Sayuri Higuchi Emerson
Takihiro Fujita

Set in New York City, this appealingly madcap Japanese comedy turns the stereotype of the hard-working Japanese in America on its head. Featuring amusing sight gags, winning lead performances and over-the-top caricatures, Sleepy heads tells the tale of young illegal Japanese immigrants happy to be free from Japan's intense work ethic and traditional hierarchies.

Japanese heartthrob Eugene Nomura plays Hiro, a recently arrived singer-musician whose innocent amiability and enthusiasm make up for his utter lack of talent. His fellow Japanese pals and roommates include a spaced-out Rastafarian drug dealer and a wooden-sword wielding bouncer. One day, when one of them overdoses, the two remaining friends bag the body and lug it through New York in an effort to fulfill the dead pal's request to be tossed, like Steve McQueen, off the Brooklyn Bridge. What follows is one wild and bizarre night that they will remember forever!
