Cast:

Takihiro Fujita
Set in New York City, this appealingly
madcap Japanese comedy turns the stereotype of the hard-working
Japanese in America on its head. Featuring amusing sight
gags, winning lead performances and over-the-top caricatures,
Sleepy heads tells the tale of young illegal Japanese
immigrants happy to be free from Japan's intense work
ethic and traditional hierarchies.
Japanese
heartthrob Eugene Nomura plays Hiro, a recently arrived
singer-musician whose innocent amiability and enthusiasm
make up for his utter lack of talent. His fellow Japanese
pals and roommates include a spaced-out Rastafarian
drug dealer and a wooden-sword wielding bouncer. One
day, when one of them overdoses, the two remaining friends
bag the body and lug it through New York in an effort
to fulfill the dead pal's request to be tossed, like
Steve McQueen, off the Brooklyn Bridge. What follows
is one wild and bizarre night that they will remember
forever!

Called "one of the more off-beat narratives to come
along in a while..." (Filmmaker Magazine) Trailer
- The Movie is the trippy journey of Val and Dip, two
jack-ass-movie-buff-extraordinaires. who sneak into the
movies one night and go mad for two of the actresses in
one of the previews. When they are kicked out of the movie
theater for indecenent behavior, they whimsically decide
to make one up instead. Like a faustian bargain made good,
they are magically transported to a celluloied universe
of there own imagining: a comic strip world of big blue
skies, pink convertables, kooky clothes, and host of wacky
characters that make John Waters' seem tame. It is here
in their movie fantasy that Val and Dip meet the girls
from the preview, the girls of their dreams...With the
audience in tow, the four take off on a ride of indulgence
and self-discovery in feverish pursuit of the "miracle"
of film.
