ROAD
TO PARK CITY |
|
Director: Bret
Stern
Cast: Syd
Field, Josh Haness, Christopher Lawford
ROAD TO PARK CITY is a response to the many questions that are often asked about
filmmaking.
The film depicts that naïve, first-time filmmaker, John Viener. When it
becomes evident to John that everyone on the block is making a film, he decides
that he, too, can be the next Steven Spielberg. He soon decides that his goal
is to make a film, and to not only enter, but to win the prestigious Sundance
Film Festival, because as he says at one point in the film "how hard can
that be?"
In a stylized fashion, the film documents John’s often comedic journey
in and around New York as he auditions actors, buys film stock, rents equipment,
and learns the basics of the process. The audience learns along with John everything
from what a Director of Photography does, to what recan is, to how to distribute
a film.
After answering all the goofy questions that everyone’s afraid to ask about
filmmaking. ROAD TO PARK CITY will leave you feeling enlightened via this fun
look at the process, but most importantly it may answer the question, "How
hard is it to win Sundance?" Check it out!

Director: Djinn

PONTIANAK \ pän-té- -näk
Definition :
1) A town on the Island of Borneo which lies on the equator.
2) A Malay woman who dies of childbirth or by the abuse of man, who returns as
an undead controlled by a Bomoh (Witch Doctor)
In the jungles of South East Asia lives the legend of the Pontianak, Malay female
Banshees reputed to be very beautiful yet demonic, who are said to seek revenge
on those they feel wronged by. VOODOO NIGHTMARE, a skillfully crafted adaptation
of this regional folklore, depicts a group of young people unfortunate enough
to experience the wrath of the Pontianak.
A group of travelers decide to embark on a two-day hike into the jungle in search
of a lost Malay village. Leading the group is a young Asian American girl (Hiep
Thi Le, Oliver Stone’s
HEAVEN AND EARTH, BUGIS STREET) intent on finding the resting-place of her birth
parents that disappeared in the same jungle over twenty-five years ago. The girl
and her friends, a group of attractive yet slightly dysfunctional young people,
set off on a journey destined to be doomed from the start.
The group soon arrives at a clearing in the jungle where they find an old Malay
man inhabiting a hut and a young Malay girl, disheveled and wild-eyed, living
under the dwelling. The girl gives off an eerie and not quite human vibe and,
feeling uncomfortable, the party soon decides to camp away from the hut. When
morning arrives and things are not as they should be, the group decides to high
tail it out of the jungle. Slowly they discover that the girl from under the
hut is following them. After stumbling upon the decapitated body of one of their
own, they soon realize the girl is not only following them but also hunting them
down, one by one. For the girl carries with her a dark secret, an inevitable
reunion between the living and the dead!
